Snakemother is an atmospheric heavy band from Oakland, California, weaving together crushing doom, hypnotic vocal harmonies, and mythic storytelling into immersive sonic landscapes. Formed by Bianca Salinas (vocals/guitar), Colie Sutter (bass/vocals), Julia Arria (drums), and Sammie Dee Wallinga (lead guitar), the band creates music that moves between tension and release, ceremony and catharsis, heaviness and transcendence.

Emerging from the Bay Area heavy music scene, Snakemother quickly distinguished itself through a sound that stretches beyond traditional doom conventions. Drawing from ritualistic themes, folk influences, layered vocal textures, and expansive song structures, the band builds worlds rather than simply songs. Their music unfolds as an experience—brooding, cinematic, and deeply atmospheric.

Their self-titled debut gained underground attention for its blend of imposing heaviness and ethereal beauty, later finding a wider audience through a Ripple Music release. The album charted on Doom Charts and drew acclaim for its immersive songwriting and distinctive identity. Alongside artists such as Year of the Cobra, Firebreather, and Dreadnought, Snakemother has built a reputation for performances that feel both primal and transportive.

With their forthcoming album Empyros, Snakemother expands further into mythic and atmospheric territory. Across sprawling compositions and ritual imagery, the band explores transformation, elemental force, memory, and rebirth. More expansive in scope and more focused in identity, Empyros continues Snakemother’s evolution into a singular force within modern heavy music.
